A Stride placement provides an ideal setting to serve God in Latin America or Spain and to grow in your relationship with God. Whether you are going on a career break, gap year, university language elective, or wanting to test a call to ongoing service, the Stride programme provides not only the placement but also a support system both local and international.
One of the core principles of Latin Link is that we see ourselves as a ‘community with a calling’, and all those on Stride enter into this community as members of Latin Link during their placement. Participants on Stride will be actively involved in the established community of the country team in which they are serving, getting to know other Latin Link members as well as those on Stride.
All those on Stride also have a mentor during their placement who will support them and help them as they adapt to living in another culture. All in all this sense of community, fellowship and support means that the Stride programme is a chance for you to grow personally as well as be able to serve others.
The cost of Stride varies depending on a number of factors such as which country you are in, and the length of placement. The cost for an individual going on a year’s placement to Latin America is £7,500 – £8,600. This includes flights, orientation and debriefing. These costs do not take into account extra expenses needed for visas and language training.
We provide a breakdown of Stride costs for both individuals and couples on our Stride days (see below) and are happy to give you advice on fundraising as well.
The Stride programme is also the way into longer, ongoing service with Latin Link. Applicants with this aim first undertake a two year Stride, which enables them to spend a significant amount of time testing their calling and being part of the wider Latin Link community. Following this two year placement, applicants can then go on to apply to Stay with Latin Link.
