Praying for the Team

Izaías and Ruth Daniel Daniel de Assis work in Ceará state, planting churches and building a community centre. Izaías is also the Brazil Team Leader.

PRAY as they help local people to build entrepreneurial skills, through aquaculture, making and selling straw hats and bags, and house construction using Gypsum.

Phil and Jan Greenwood both teach at the Evangelical Missions Centre (CEM) in Viçosa, training and preparing Brazilians for mission. Jan also works with the Brazilian Missionary Member Care Organisation, particularly alongside the children of mission workers.

Over the past two years, CEM has had a fall in the number of students. PRAY for the successful recruitment of students for the next academic year, beginning February 2020.

Phil Rout preaching in Sao PauloPhil and Carolina Rout are working with their local church in São Paulo. Phil has recently become the assistant pastor, which involves some new responsibilities. Both Phil and Carolina are working with the children’s ministry.

PRAY that the church would recognise the importance of the children’s ministry, and work together to improve the overall standard.

Paul Crothers works with two ministries in Recife, which both reach out to children, teenagers and families. Sports is a big part of this outreach, particularly football.

PRAY for some of the boys in the football project, who are going to a church youth weekend this month. This is a good opportunity to mix with Christian young people of a similar age and hear the Gospel presented in different ways.

Tim and Hannah Flatman lead a church plant in the North-East of Brazil, in a quilombola community. They also serve a separate ministry in South Sudan. Hannah is the Short Term Coordinator (STC) for Brazil, working with incoming and outgoing Steppers and Striders.

PRAY for them as they host the Summer Step Team throughout August.

PRAY as Hannah works alongside two Brazilian Striders, who plan to serve in the UK.

Verna Langrell leads the JEAME street ministry in Sao Paulo. She is currently partway through her sabbatical, after serving with Latin Link for over 20 years!

There will be a Summer Step Team in Brazil in August. They will be supporting two projects, with activities including running children’s clubs for vulnerable young people, leading school assemblies and building a play park out of recycled tyres. • The October 2018 elections in Brazil were divisive. PRAY for the new government to lead with wisdom and integrity, and to be held accountable in a corrupt political system. PRAY for churches to be places of unity, truth and justice for those with differing political perspectives.

• The Brazilian church and local mission agencies are focussing on bringing the whole gospel to unreached minority people groups. PRAY for these communities to be transformed by the good news.

• Many church leaders have been speaking out on gender identity issues. PRAY for the Brazilian church to contribute wisely and graciously to this discussion.
