Members are involved in leadership, mobilisation and training:

Image of map of and facts about Colombia Fiona Christie has just stepped down as Team Leader. ‘For the last six years, I’ve worked with the Vive Foundation in Medellín, first on a Bible Curriculum for the Rana Bacana (Funky Frog) clubs and latterly developing a Child Protection policy. I leave Colombia for good in March’

  • PRAY for Fiona in this transition, that she finishes well and knows God’s guidance every day, for space to process ten action-packed years in Colombia, and as she discerns God’s will for the future.

Manuel and Patty Reaño are based in Medellín. Patty works as a family therapist with Vínculo (Link), a family Christian centre. Manuel is with a new ministry called Koinonos (Partner), which promotes healthy models of pastoral ministry, prevents ministerial attrition, and provides counselling and support to pastors, leaders of Christian ministries and their families.

  • PRAY that Koinonos becomes a useful ministry tool in Colombia and beyond.
  • Vínculo no longer shares its premises, which is bringing new funding challenges.

Image of children playing a Funky Frog gameAbi and Pipe Figueroa are the Short Term Coordinators and live in Bogotá. They find placements for European Striders and Step teams, and support them in Colombia. They also prepare Colombians for mission. They are expecting their first baby in April.

  • PRAY for the three Colombians currently seeking to work as mission workers with Latin Link outside Colombia.
  • PRAY for unity in the Colombian Church, especially in mobilising mission workers.

Pray for the other team members: Carmen Gallego; Paola Innocente; Santi Benavides and Diana Peñuela, and family; and Elkin Bedoya and Leidy Gómez.

Pray for Colombia:

  • This is election year in Colombia, with a new congress due to be elected on 11 March and presidential elections to be held on 27 May, with a possible second round on 17 June. PRAY for security around the elections, for integrity and transparency, and for the participation of Christians in the political process.
  • The peace process with the ELN (Ejército de Liberación Nacional) guerrilla group seems fragile after the ELN ended its participation in a bi-lateral ceasefire. PRAY for this process, and the peace deal agreed with the FARC rebel group last year. PRAY also for the continuity of the peace process after the new president is elected.
  • PRAY for the Church, that as it grows numerically, it can play its part in the process of reconciliation and be faithful in its witness.
