She teaches mission courses for pastors and leaders, and helps to send Guatemalan mission workers to Russia. • PRAY that the pastors and leaders who attend Suzanne’s course inspire their congregations to participate in world mission. • PRAY for the developing mission opportunities for Latin Americans. Kate Fisher recently re-joined the team as a Stay member. She continues as a social worker at Oasis, a children’s home for girls who have been sexually abused. ‘God is using Oasis to advise the Guatemalan government about how to re-structure services and legal processes to do with children in need of protection.’ • PRAY for the Oasis centre as it seeks to provide advice and influence at governmental and judicial levels. • PRAY for wisdom and openness for the government and child protection bodies. Geoff Baines is studying at SETECA seminary in Guatemala City, in preparation for mission work. He also helps to run the Mission Centre in SETECA, teaches children in the Potter’s House (which works with children in Guatemala City rubbish dump), and teaches in his local church. • PRAY for the students that SETECA is sending on short-term mission projects during the winter break. PRAY for the other Guatemala team members: Rodolfo Rodas; Stefan and Angela Hochstrasser; and Chris Fiorito. PRAY for Rose Wade, who embarks on a two-year Stride placement in the autumn. Pray for Guatemala: • PRAY for the Guatemala team, as it prepares to host the Latin Link International Assembly in February 2018. • PRAY for safety and security for the team, as Guatemala has a high level of violence. • PRAY that the Guatemalan Church increasingly recognises its calling to reach its own communities with the holistic gospel, and to world mission through sending workers. • PRAY for systemic change in government and for processes to root out corruption. Other prayer points... September 1 Joel Gonzalez begins teaching a diploma in Theology and Biblical Studies in Ixtapaluca, Mexico. He will teach the course for the next ten months to local pastors, leaders and others. 1 Strider Rosie Radcliffe arrives in Nicaragua. She will initially receive orientation from Lukas and Barbara Minder, before going to her work with the Nazarene church in Jinotepe. 5 Matías and Paula Rigau start their last trimester of studies at EMPI college. Pray for them as they finish their studies while also looking after their three-month-old baby, Santiago. 8–10 Bolivia team retreat. Pray for a good time of encouragement and refreshment. 9 Joel Gonzalez begins teaching the Theology and Biblical Studies diploma in Puebla, Mexico. Again, it will aimed at local pastors and leaders. 10–17 Scotland Coordinator Martin Haworth is undertaking a North-East Tour of the Scotland mainland. He will be speaking at a number of churches: pray that the mission message might strike hearts. 11–15 Manuel Reaño is speaking on Sola fide (By faith alone) at the annual conference on Transformative Preaching organised by the Bible Seminary of Colombia and Langham Foundation. 15 El Redentor (The Redeemer) Church in Lima, Peru, is holding a prayer vigil. Pray for Eduardo and Margo Huaman as they attend and help with this night of prayer. 15–17 Vive Foundation is running a camp for children’s club leaders in La Mojana, north Colombia. Pray for a significant time for all as the team works with the leaders. 22–24 Patty Reaño is leading a conference for the Cumberland Presbyterian ladies in the city of Ibague, Colombia. 23–27 National Missions Congress in Brazil. About 1,200 people are expected. Latin Link Brazil member Jan will give a seminar on preparing kids for the mission field. The Evangelical Mission Training Centre (CEM) has an exhibition stand. 29–Oct 1 Manuel Reaño is in Armenia, Colombia.
