With 29 members working across eight cities, Peru is home to Latin Link's largest Country Team. From prison ministry to physiotherapy, bereavement camps to Bible resources; they serve God in a huge variety of ways. Let's pray for them and their ministries!

Andy and Brenda Parkins train, teach and preach at an Assemblies of God church in Lima. Brenda also works from home as an editor of children’s materials, and Andy supports pastors in Huaycán, a huge urban area where pastors receive little outside help. They are on sending country assignment from March to April, and will be retiring later this year after 30 years of service in Peru.

PRAY for them as they transition into retirement, and explore God’s plans for their future.

Hannah Wilkinson is Short Term Coordinator for Peru, based in Arequipa. Her role involves finding placements for, and supervising, Step teams and Striders. She is also involved in the sending of Peruvians who want to serve with Latin Link in other countries.

PRAY for God’s wisdom and guidance as Hannah serves and supports the Striders currently in Peru, as well as those being sent.

Sharon Jones coordinates the Buena Tierra (Good Soil) ministry. She is involved in creating and publishing biblical teaching materials for children and teenagers, as well as delivering training courses for those involved in children’s ministry.

PRAY for Sharon as she seeks God and puts her trust in him, during a time of uncertainty for Buena Tierra.

Eduardo and Margo Huaman are serving in El Redentor (The Redeemer) Church in Lima, building the children’s ministry, preparing leaders, offering pastoral care and working in the areas of evangelism and discipleship.

PRAY for energy and creativity as they encourage and train others for ministry.
Margo will be returning to work in a women’s prison this month, PRAY that God gives her the words to say as she prepares Bible study sessions.

Karen Harte is on a nine-month Stride placement. She works with various community projects in Arequipa, particularly using her physiotherapy training to help adults with learning difficulties.

PRAY for quick adjustment into her placement, having finished an initial few months of language school.

PRAY for clear opportunities to work with those who would most benefit from physiotherapy.

Sarah Clay is a member of the Turmanyé (Rainbow) project, as well as working with her local church in Huaraz. She is involved in discipleship, with a desire to see God’s love change lives. Sarah is a member of the Peru leadership team and supports Peruvians sent by Latin Link Peru.

PRAY for Sarah’s deepening involvement in her local church; for strong relationships to form, and for wisdom as she makes decisions in service.

Ruth McKee works in the Shalom Centre, which helps children with special needs and their families. She is developing a new ministry, supporting families affected by disabilities who do not already attend the Shalom Centre.

PRAY for two new children who are starting at Shalom this month; that they settle in quickly and good relationships form between Shalom leaders and the parents.Paul and Ruth Turner in Peru

Paul and Ruth Turner are based in Lima. Pau is Latin Link International Team Leader and Ruth coordinates the International Member Care Team, which supports and equips Latin Link members in their ministry. Ruth also works with churches and mission agencies in Peru to develop resources and training in member care.

PRAY for wisdom in their different interactions and relationships; that they would walk close to Jesus and be filled with the Holy Spirit each day.

Pray for Peru:

  • PRAY that God would bring to light every crime, act of corruption and lack of ethics in all areas of power in Peru.
  • PRAY that the authorities would act correctly and not with any kind of personal interest.
  • PRAY for the eradication of all types of violence, especially family violence and violence against women. PRAY for the organisations that work on the prevention and treatment of domestic violence, that they be of great benefit to those they serve.
  • PRAY that the Latin Link Peru Team would be increasingly effective in God’s service.

General Latin Link prayer points for March...

4-8 Manuel Reaño is leading an annual meeting with the staff of Koinonos, a ministry that cares for pastors, in Colombia. Pray for wisdom as they discuss several challenges that they are facing this year.

5 Suzanne Windsor returns to the UK, to retire, after serving in Bolivia for nearly 20 years. Praise God for Suzanne’s willingness to serve wholeheartedly, and for the many lives that have been impacted as a result. Please pray for peace and guidance as she adjusts to this new season of life.

11 Strider, Edie Swain, will begin her six-week medical elective placement today, working with AMI San Lucas in Guatemala.

11-16 Katie Griggs and Kate Campbell will be involved in a Holiday Bible Club at their church in Santo Domingo, Ecuador. Pray that it is well supported by church members.

12 The Spring Step team arrives in Guatemala, for four months. They’ll begin by working at a church in San Juan La Laguna, on Lake Atitán.

18-22 The Comentario Bíblico Contemporáneo (CBC), is on show at a continental meeting of book distributors. Please pray for further distribution agreements, enabling the commentary to reach even more readers.

22–24 The Colombia Team are on a retreat in Medellin. Pray for them they as they discuss the structure of their team, and seek God’s guidance together.

25-29 Hans Breekvelt is teaching on Genesis at the UEA seminary, (Evangelical Church of Argentina) in Tandil. Students come from far and wide for an intensive weekend of teaching.

General Latin Link prayer points for April...

1-5 This week, Priscilla Breekveldt together with team members, Charo, Daniel and Uta, are facilitating the ‘Improving Your Interpersonal Skills’ Workshop at the EMPI, a mission school in Córdoba, Argentina.

10 Please pray for this term at the Angel Tree Centre in Oruro, Bolivia, particularly for the teenagers who made a commitment of faith at the ‘Word of Life Camp’ in January.

14-20 This Easter, pray for all the Latin Link members that are communicating the gospel message in their communities. Pray for creativity and energy, and for a good response to all Easter activities.

20 In Puebla, Joel, Mayra and their pastor are building a team to write the curriculum for a new Theology course. The completed curriculum will be presented to the Mexican authorities, and hopefully passed this August.

25 In Spain, Revelation TV project are looking for funding for a new building. Pray for Latin Link’s Douglas Cowan and the team, who are trying to complete this build by the end of the year.

27 Latin Link Ireland host their annual Inspire! event today. Please pray for all those attending who are interested in Latin American mission, and for the team as they work hard to put on a great event.
