What we do Inspirational stories Step team reports Report #2 - 12/07/2019 Shovelling, Noah's Ark and The Basilica! ¡Buenos días! We have reached the half way point of our time here, which is crazy, and a lot has happened since we last updated you! The old fence has come down, the land somewhat cleared and the new bricks are being laid as we speak. It has been very warm shovelling and pickaxing, but we have been motivated to keep going by the continuous amazing hospitality of the locals here, mucho más frijoles y plátanos! We have gotten to know many of the local children too, several of which have been a big help with our project, and have played some (bad) football with them! They are picking up some of our English, and particularly enjoy the Scottish accent. We have also repainted and revamped the church hall and kitchen (our quarters for these 3 weeks). The picture of Noah’s Ark that was painted 25 years ago by an American missionary is looking good as new! We have been able to do a bit of exploring here too! On Monday we went to Cartago, the old capital, and enjoyed visiting the famous Basilica, and eating yummy tortillas with the added bonus of WiFi!!! We are getting more involved in the church here and led an English rendition of How Great is our God last Sunday, and visited Kayla’s church in San Jose on Saturday at their under 30’s service where we made more friends and sang some familiar worship songs en español. Hopefully the brick base of the new wall will be finished by Sunday, when we are having a birthday party for Gilberto - the pastor’s husband and our construction site boss Thank you for your continued support and prayers (the toilet is now unblocked!) and in particular this week: - Energy for the building in the heat! - Patience with the language barrier - Prayer for our coordinator Kayla who is heading back home to Canada soon for a couple months, but is having some legal issues - A great rest of the trip! ¡Hasta luego!
